Communication, Language, and Literacy
Communication, Language, and Literacy

At Learning Corner Nursery, we prioritise the development of communication, language, and literacy skills in young children.
Our Approach
A love of books and language is central to our Learning Corner Goals. Our experienced staff, guided by current research and government recommendations, have curated a core selection of books that align with our themes and values.
Goals
We aim to build strong relationships with children, focusing on reciprocal conversations to co-construct meaning and build shared narratives. Key daily activities—such as Welcome, Story time, Snack time, Gathering, and small group interventions—promote discussions around themes, values, and children’s interests.
Our Outdoor Area
- Talking Takes Off: A local initiative to improve speech, language, and communication for children aged 0-5.
- Lift Off to Language: Booster groups for children needing extra communication and language support, developed by local Speech and Language Therapists.
