Physical Development
Physical Development at Learning Corner

At Learning Corner, we offer numerous opportunities for children to develop gross and fine motor skills. Gross motor skills involve large muscle movements, such as pushing, pulling, rolling, crawling, walking, and sitting still. These skills are essential for healthy bodies and social-emotional well-being. Fine motor skills involve small muscle movements and hand-eye coordination, which are crucial for early literacy.
Development Focus
- Gross Motor Skills: Activities that build core strength and large muscle control, like running, jumping, climbing, and riding tricycles.
- Fine Motor Skills: Developing a pincer grip for holding pencils and crayons, achieved through prior development of gross motor skills.
Facilities and Resources
- Outdoor Play: Our orchard provides unpredictable surfaces for movement, enhancing balance, coordination, and risk assessment.
- Open-ended Resources: Various tools and equipment to promote active learning and exploration.
Health and Self-Care
We encourage independence in self-care, teaching children to wash hands, attend to toileting needs, and fasten their own shoes and coats. Practitioners are always ready to assist when needed.
